Saturday, Sunday AND Monday!!!

SUNDAY, JULY 24, 2016

Short and sweet and to the point.  The two teams finally set eyes on one another Saturday morning at the Dubai Airport as we boarded out 5 hour flight for Entebbe.  We landed in Entebbe (in the daylight which was a first for all of us, VERY different!), our bags and we were loaded into the vans and transported 15 minutes away to stay at Anderita Hotel on the shore of Lake Victoria.  We took in the sights around and had dinner at Cafe Java's a short driving distance away.  All enjoyed Ugandan "chips" (french fries) and a wide variety of good American-style foods.  With full stomachs and closing eyes, we headed back to the hotel for a horizontal nights rest.

Sunday morning, our bags were packed on top of the vans as Larry led us with our first morning's devotional.  After devotional and prayer, we piled into the vans for the 5-6 hour trek to Mbale and Mt. Elgon Hotel.  (FYI to those who've been there before: Sunday morning is THE time to drive through Kampala!  Traffic was minimal... and not near the exhaust fumes!).  We arrived at Mt. Elgon, unpacked, ate a late lunch and headed out to Lulwanda to greet the younger kiddos.  We were greeted with many smiles, laughter, hands to hold, and little ones sitting in our laps or stuck like glue by our sides.  Such a great welcome to Uganda... for newbies and veterans alike!  Nothing like it!!  We saw the sunset from Lulwanda (always a spectacular sight) and made our way back to the Hotel for the evening meal and a good night's rest before we begin our week's activities.

AND FINALLY, HERE IS MONDAY!
JULY 25, 2016

The day started with breakfast, then prayer and devotional and then the vans were loaded and Bill headed to the schools and the rest of the crew headed to Pastor Peter's church in the village of Musese. Upon arriving in the village and spending a period of time in praise and worship and prayer, we were given instructions on where in the village we were going and were informed on what the predominant belief would be, and we headed out.  Some of the highlight stories are as follows:
Dee Hoelscher went to see a elderly lady who had lost almost all of her family and was left with only a couple of grandchildren. She was also suffering with severe back pain.  She felt like God had totally abandoned her and was angry towards him. Dee shared the gospel with her and then asked is she could pray for her. The lady said it would be ok and so Dee proceeded to get down on her knees to pray for the woman. As she was getting down the ladies grandson also got down on his knees and laid hands on his grandmother to pray for her too.  Dee said she just about lost it, but that God gave her composure and gave her words to pray over the woman.  At the end of the prayer, Dee asked her if she could give her a hug and the lady gladly accepted it and Dee said she could actually see the woman's countenance change.
Larry Hoelscher  also walked into a divine appointment while sharing the gospel in the village.  Larry went to share the gospel with a woman, who immediately told him that she had been witnessed to a few weeks ago by the local Anglican church.  When you hear that you would think its time to move on, but this time was different. She told those who  had previously shared with her that "it wasn't her time."  But she felt like when Larry was approaching that this was the time.  She accepted Jesus as her Savior right then and there.
Reggie Carrington shared the gospel house to house for the first time today, and God showed Himself mighty as he witnessed to the people.  The first two households that He went to accepted Christ. The first, a young man in his twenties with a little baby boy, and the second, a husband and wife.  Both homes were excited about the thought of eternal life and having there sins forgiven, and trusted Jesus with gladness in their hearts.
Jennifer Donnell, witnessed boldly today as well. Along with sharing her testimony at the crusade tonight, she witnessed in the village as well.  Almost everyone she witnessed to trusted in the Lord!! She also taught the children's church and led worship with them.  Jennifer, Dee, Juliana Carr and Rosemary Palermo were amazed at how responsive and attentive the children were as they taught the story of Joseph.  The children answered every question and gave very insightful feedback. God definitely has planted the Word in their heart.
Bill went to four schools today and was amazed at how polite and attentive the kids were.   Bill taught about the feeding of the 5000 and the works of God being the believing in Jesus followed by a gospel message. The guy he was with shared about making good decisions or  abstaining from sex depending on what age group he was speaking to. Sounds like the typical American school experience
David went to the village and visited three people, ate a quick bite and then headed to the Mbale prison where he was able to share with several hundred men and secondly to about 40 women. In this large prison, the have a prisoner pastor, deacon's, a worship team, etc.  again sounds like a typical American prison.

Much more happened, but time to go to bed and get ready for tomorrow.
